Bottom Line
A 35-room designer hotel in the middle of the historic center, Afor Athens, located across from the Acropolis and next to the Monastiraki metro station, is a value choice for travelers who want to be in the midst of everything -- it's a five-minute walk to the nightlife of Psirri, Monastiraki, and Plaka. But the convenience comes with a great deal of noise from the busystreet outside, and the roadside musicians in Monastiraki Square below. While the hotel's spectacular rooftopbar is a popular nightlife spot for non-hotel guests, it also also adds noise.

A for Athens
Hotel Class:Budget
Scene
The rooftop bar is a local hot spot, with stunning views.
The colorful murals of shapes and swirls accenting A for Athens’white exterior give the first hint of its design, not to mentionits playful personality and appeal. Built by a team of locally famous designers, A for Athens has a rooftop bar with an open deck that offers a sweeping panorama of the city, including Mount Lycabettus in the distance. Full of high and low tables andfrequented by 20-somethings from lunch till late into the night, the rooftop bar isclearly the pulse of the hotel. The restaurant and rooftop bar are the only communalgathering places in the hotel, as the lobby, consisting of a receptiondesk and a small computer area, doesn't afford much room for socializing.
