Shashiro is at the aquarium and is surprised to see Mira works there part-time. She asks what he’s doing here and he flashes back to Taiya and Jou congratulating Genba having gotten Safari’s trust.

Shashiro tells Mira that he came here to calm himself in order to open Marine’s heart. Also the fact that Shashiro is an annual pass member of the aquarium. Mira says he should ask Genba for tips. But Shashiro says this is a problem he can solve for himself as he’s always done. He warns Mira not to butt in unless he asks her to.

Meanwhile, the General3 are lounging out in the sun until they get shot at by Cannonborg. He scolds them and says slacking off is the reason they can’t beat the Boonboomgers. They apologize and beg him not to remodel them. He orders them to gather gassholin.

Ittasha decides to key in a refrigerator to bring about Reizoko Guruma.

Back at the aquarium, Mira and Shashiro enjoy the dolphin and sealion show. Afterwards, Mira visits with Shashiro to talk about the show. He corrects her when she misidentifies the sealion. Mira says she didn’t expect Shashiro to really like aquariums, especially when he’s busy as an information specialist.

Shashiro says it is because of his job. Back in the day, he would be busy with missions and always worry. But just when he was about to lose his heart, he came across the aquarium.

Going inside and seeing all the wonderful creatures of the aquarium gave him comfort. Shashiro believes that without this aquarium, he is not who he is today. Mira is touched that Shashiro has a special place like this.

Just then, screams can be heard outside as Reizoko Guruma is rampaging. Shashiro and Mira hurry over and all of a sudden, the General3 arrive in Boonboom Killer Robo. Cannonborg says this is a super attack model.

Taiya, Jou and Genba arrive and Reizoko Guruma tries to shoot them with his ice freeze. The Boonbooms dodge out of the way and believe splitting into groups is the best plan for now. Shashiro henshins and says he will take care of the Guruma while the others deal with Killer Robo.

Mira says she will stay and help him. But she ends up slipping on the ice. Shashiro says she’ll just get in the way. Plus, he must protect his special place on his own so Marine can accept him.

Taiya understands Shashiro’s feelings and leads the others in a henshin. BunBun leads the Cars out of the garage and they combine into Robo Police. They battle the General3.

Meanwhile, Shashiro battles Nejiretta on his own before facing off against the Guruma. He delivers a Shoot Drive at it, but the Guruma blocks the attack by freezing itself in ice.

All the Boonbooms are struggling against their opponents. Mira calls to Shashiro as he is forced to dehenshin. The Guruma turns his attention to the aquarium. Shashiro pushes himself to get up and protect his special place. And in the process gets hit with a huge attack from the Guruma.

Shashiro grabs the Guruma’s leg and tries to stop him, vowing to take him down even if it means he goes down too. Mira can’t stand to watch Shashiro struggling like this and she unbuckles herself. Before she leaves, Genba hands her a tire chain.

Mira jumps down and uses the chain against the Guruma, demanding he leave Shashiro alone. Shashiro tells Mira she is using the chain wrong. Mira tells him to shut it as she is doing her best and that is what matters.

The Guruma shoots at Mira and forces her to dehenshin. Shashiro quickly runs over to Mira and helps her up, taking her to safety.

Mira tells him he’s being a dummy for trying to do everything on his own, including to sacrifice himself. She asks what is the point of him saving his special place if he’s going to die doing it.

The Guruma finds them and prepares another finishing attack at them. But as Mira closes her eyes, Shashiro shoots back and counters the attack. He sends the Guruma flying back into the wall, much to Mira’s shock.

Shashiro says he wasn’t sure she would notice how he got flustered and lost himself. But he knows what he has to do now. And that is to accept her on the team and know that she has his back.

Shashiro asks her to protect the aquarium with him. She says she is not convinced of his sentiments just yet, but she’ll join him.

As the two of them henshin, the Guruma tries to freeze them up once again. But the Guruma’s attacks are no match for their bakuage. They use the fish of the aquarium as inspiration for how to counter the Guruma’s attacks.

Together they deliver a finisher at the Guruma and it explodes. The people are unfrozen.

Just then, Marine appears and officially opens its heart to Shashiro. They hurry over to the others as Shashiro tells Taiya they should use an iron lane. Taiya understands and they call on Safari and Marine to come together.

The Boonbooms are able to combine into Boonboomger Robo Monster. Shashiro asks to take the lead this time and BunBun says no problem. The General3 can’t match Robo Monster’s power. They deliver a Bakuage Wild finisher and Robo Killer is done for once again. The General3 get tossed out as it explodes.

Back at the garage, the Boonbooms thank Marine for its help. Mira tells Shashiro that they were able to protect the aquarium too.

Shashiro offers up some blue roses for Marine and says he looks forward to working with it from now on. Marine, however, rejects the flowers. Shashiro does not understand.

Taiya says neither of them are very upfront.

Episode Thoughts

Can this be one of the best focus episodes in a long time? Wowow. I already loved Shashiro. But this was such a wonderful episode and showcase for his character.

Those scenes of Shashiro in the past were so short, yet so amazing. I love seeing the badass Shashiro. But then hearing about how the aquarium basically saved him, it is so interesting to think about the crazy stuff he must have gone through. I look forward to learning more.

In the scenes from the past, we see him all beaten up. Both physically and likely emotionally and mentally as well. It was a very affecting scene. And then his story to Mira really hit because in this short time, we have already forged a connection with both Shashiro and Mira. And so we can empathize and actually care about them in this moment.

At the end, we can still see Shashiro’s awkwardness and tsundere-ness. But the episode certainly contained growth for his character and for Mira’s too, especially their relationship.

Some of my favorite episodes are when the Sentai pair off members with each other for their own adventures/stories for the week. It’s always great to watch those different dynamics and relationships. And it was certainly the case this week with Shashiro and Mira.

That moment where they rub their Changers together to henshin was just so awesome and badass. And such a wonderful way to show how much their relationship and teamwork has grown up to this point.

This episode was also such a great example of how you can balance silly and cute fluff with legitimately emotional stories with depth. Again, the Boonbooms are very much a traditional Sentai in all the best ways possible. And this episode certainly showed that very well. Loved it!
